Whilst the primary focus for Tents and Marquees is supplying wedding and events tents throughout Shropshire and the surrounding areas, we’re often involved in some exciting projects. One of these projects happened at the end of last year at the sell-out Polar Express event in Telford.
From the 1st to the 23rd of December 2016, the Polar Express at Telford Steam Railway transported over 17,000 adults and children on a magical trip to the ‘North Pole’. Once aboard the train, families indulged in hot chocolate and treats whilst Santa and his helpers presented each child with their first gift of Christmas. The train then went on to Spring Village Station where families were then led onto multiple festive activities. The young and old were taken through the magical world of the North Pole where they were entertained by elves and given an opportunity to write and post a letter to Santa.
Tents and Marquees supplied all of the marquees at the event, pulling out all the stops to make sure that the event encapsulated the spirit of Christmas. Families were asked by organisers to embrace the Polar Express tradition by wearing pyjamas and bearing in mind that the temperature gauge dropped to -2° in early December, we had to ensure that the marquee was toasty and warm for all ages. We were also on standby in case extra provisions were required due to adverse weather conditions.
Festive Festoon lighting adorned the fully-lined Clearspan marquees and since there was no need for centre poles with this type of marquee, a very large internal space was created. We had a very small-window to build the structures since we had to wait for a vintage Steam Train to arrive first – however – once we were given the all clear, all structures and marquees were built and firmly in place within 2 days After working flat-out, the setting looked magical and all families, young and old, were completely enchanted by what was created.
